The Accelerated Reader Program is to encourage children to read.  Children take tests on the books they’ve read.  The program is used to test children in the Gladstone School system.  Each book has a grade level and points on the binding.  If the child passes the test, the points are earned.  The points are used to buy things in the school’s store.

The colors on the binding represent which grade level the book is.

Purple                               Kindergarten

Blue                                          1^st grade

Pink                                         2^nd grade

Green                                       3^rd grade

Yellow                                      4^th grade

Orange                       5^th and 6^th grade

Purple                        7^th and 8^th grade
