The special Board of Education meeting of the Gladstone Area Schools was held on Monday, December 3, 2007 at 12:00 p.m. at the James T. Jones Elementary School, 400 South Tenth Street, Gladstone, Michigan, 49837. 

 

The meeting was called to order by John Skellenger, Vice-President, at 12:10 p.m.

 

Members Present:         John Skellenger, Pat Madden, Gloria McDonnell, Dirk Manson, Gary Micheau, Steve O’Driscoll

 

Members Absent:         Linda Howlett (excused)

 

Administrative:              Dr. Jay Kulbertis, Janice Winkel

 

Members of the Press:              Lisa Reed

 

Motion to approve the agenda as presented was made by G. Micheau and supported by G. McDonnell.  Ayes-6, Nays –0.  Motion carried.

 

Motion to award the Freshmen Girls Basketball Coach position to Danicia Braun was made by G. Micheau and supported by G. McDonnell. Ayes –6, Nays –0. Motion carried.

    

A list of priorities to be considered with the Superintendent’s evaluation was presented and discussed. Board members shared comments on priorities and other aspects of the Superintendent’s role. These priorities will also be used in setting goals for the Superintendent following the final evaluation.

 

Dr. Kulbertis also discussed the status of the School Foundation.

 

Dirk Manson suggested that the Board may want to revisit the mission statement.

 

Motion to adjourn was made by P. Madden and supported by G. McDonnell. Ayes –6, Nays –0. Motion carried.
