General
Classroom Procedures for Mrs. LaMarche’s Class
REWARDS: In my class, students are given “reward coupons” for good
behavior, good grades, completing certain assignments, etc.
Drawings are held where students can win computer time, 5% added to a
test grade, toys, pencils, erasers, gum, candy, pop, etc.
I also allow students to earn pizza parties or special lunches at
McDonald’s for such things as accelerated reader or math points.
*** I am always looking for any donations or
help finding donations. If you or
your company would like to donate any promotional items, coupons, etc., I would
be very appreciative.
DISCIPLINE:
In my class,
I use a form of assertive discipline. If
a student is disruptive, disrespectful, or rude, their name goes on the board as
a warning (this is usually after I have already verbally warned him or her more
than once). If their behavior
continues, they receive a check, which means they must turn in 50 sentences by
the next day. If they receive 2
checks, they must stay in the room at lunch recess and call home.
If their behavior continues, they are sent to the office.
If they do not turn in their sentences the next day, they must call home,
stay in at lunch recess, and 100 sentences are due the following day. If those are not turned in, the child must go to the
Principal’s office.
TESTING
ACCOMMODATIONS:
Besides coming to the special education room, having the test read, and other
help that I can give on tests, our team is open to alternative suggestions to
testing. If your child can produce
something that demonstrates that they understand the concepts in the chapter,
and which obviously required several hours of their time, this could be counted
instead of taking a paper and pencil test.
The project needs to be cleared with us several days in advance of the
test. Examples of such projects may
include, but are not limited to: making or showing off several weather
instruments and graphs and demonstrating how each is used to predict the
weather; making dioramas of the Inca, Aztecs, and Mayan cultures; writing or
producing a play about each cultural region; making tools or crafts or clothing
in the styles of early people from each region; taking pictures of various types
of clouds/fronts/weather and making a bulletin board with descriptions of how
each is formed.
VOLUNTEER?
I do have a large group of students in study hall this year and some days there
are more questions than I have time to answer.
If you or anyone you know is available any day from 2:10-2:57 and
would be willing to volunteer to help answer questions or just read with
students, please let me know. Also,
we are always in need of volunteers to accompany on field trips and with special
activities. Let me know if you
would like to be considered for this as well.
(We go to Green Bay, Heritage Hill, in late October or November)
