This 2005-2006 school year, parents are asked to contact the school office by phone at 789-8385 if a student is going to be absent. When no excuse is provided with 24 hours, the absence will be unexcused and the student will be assigned detention. Please note: If an absence is unexcused, a student will not be issued make-up work and may lose credit.
The following are excusable reasons for absence:
Illness: doctors confirmation required for more than five (5) days in a semester
Recovery from an accident
Required court attendance: a signed statement by court personnel as to time in/out of assigned appointment
Professional appointments: signed statement by medical staff as to time in/out of assigned appointment
Death in the immediate family
Observation or celebration of a religious holiday
Such other good cause as may be acceptable to the Superintendent
Parents are requested to call during the school day, preferably in the morning hours, whenever possible. However, written excuses will be accepted. In order for verification to exist, we request that you have a valid signature on file in the attendance office. Your cooperation is needed in our efforts to improve attendance enabling students to experience the full benefit of the school program.
