Señora Kenville de Miller’s HOMEWORK RULES

1. Write complete, legible first and last name in upper right-hand corner of paper with all names on the same line (first name in Spanish and last name in English, using both last names if you are in Spanish II or above).

2. Write the date under your name: 8-27-03 or 08/27/03 or August 28, 2003 or Aug. 27, 2003 (27-08-03 or 27-VIII-03 if you are in Spanish II or above).

3. Punctuation, grammar, penmanship and spelling count.

4. Point deductions will be made for consistent errors in penmanship.

5. Use a period after the question numbers... l.

6. Using a title on homework papers is optional. If you use a title, then center it on the title line and leave a space between the title and question number 1.

7. Write the question numbers just to the left of the red, left margin line.

8. Be consistent regarding the amount of space you leave between questions.

9. Indent the first word of paragraphs five spaces.

10. At the bottom of the paper, please write to the bottom line, but leave the bottom margin clear.

11. 1/2-inch right margin preferred.

12. Ragged paper edges from spiral edges are not accepted. Use loose leaf paper or cut off spiral edges.

13. Write out the word for numbers less than 11.

14. Dot ‘i’s professionally.

15. Cross out errors neatly when necessary (liquid paper not necessary).

16. Use complete sentences unless directed otherwise.

17. Write out the word ‘and’.

18. Use a homework record book to record homework assignments, due dates, etc. and to cross out completed work after it has been turned in.

19. Late papers are graded two (2) letter grades lower, i.e. from a B+ down to a D+.

20. Do not throw away assignments. Keep them in your file envelope in Rm. 149.

21. Redo unsatisfactory papers to raise the grade to a B+ at most.

22. Do not offer excuses for missing deadlines. If there is a problem with missing a deadline, let me know in advance.

EXTRA CREDIT

1. Extra credit is available at the rate of three times per marking period, BUT will only be counted if the student has done all of the required assignments already.

2. Turn in extra credit items on 8 1/2 x 11 paper. Cut off spiral edges.

3. Write your name, date and class period on extra credit or it will be returned to you.
