The Gladstone H.S. Chapter
of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (Spanish Honor Society) held
its new member induction ceremony on Monday evening, May 12th, 2014 at
18.30 (6:30 p.m.) at Ferdinand's Mexican Restaurant & Cantina in
Escanaba. The occasion included the induction ceremony, a Mexican nacho
supreme buffet dinner, and guest speaker Angelina Gardner Feak, a
third-year Spanish student at GHS. In addition, GHS Spanish III
students entertained the guests by playing the Spanish traditional song
“Arre, borriquito” or “Giddyup, Donkey” on flute and piccolo.
To become a member of the Spanish Honor Society, a student must have
completed at least three semesters of Spanish with an honors average
(3.0 or better) and have shown and proven a deep interest in the Spanish
language and culture.
Spanish Honor Society advisor is Gladstone High School Spanish teacher
Michèlle Kenville Miller.

Mrs. Deacon's Advanced Algebra class visited Pardon Incorporated and
listened to owner Jim Pardon speak about machining, manufacturing,
careers in engineering, and the importance of math. Students also
toured the factory floor during operation.
