My name is Mrs. Poma.
I have been teaching special education in the Gladstone School District for 30 years. I enjoy helping struggling learners find their
potential.
I was born and raised
in Rapid River. I attended Bay de Noc Community College where I received
my Associate of Arts Degree. I then transferred to Eastern Michigan
University in Ypsilanti to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Special
Education for the Emotionally Impaired.
In 1977, I accepted a position to teach in the Gladstone School District. I received my Masters of Arts Degree in Learning Disabilities from Northern Michigan University in 1984. I am trained to use the Dyslexic Techniques and have participated in numerous professional development workshops that have been offered in our district and at the Delta Schoolcraft Intermediate School District. I use a lot of technology in my classroom and have been a Teacher Leader for Project TELL through our ISD.
I have two sons, Robert and Richard. My husband is a contractor. He specializes in masonry work and makes beautiful stone and brick fireplaces.
I thoroughly love working with my students. I consider it an honor to be able to make a small difference in their lives.
