ACCELERATED READER

Accelerated Reader is a computerized program that tests a child's reading ability and comprehension.  Your child is encouraged to read books in their own reading zone.  (Teachers may give students the S.T.A.R. reading test to help determine your child's reading level and zone. )  Once your child is finished reading a book and is confident in understanding the book, he/she will be allowed to take the test to earn points.  Then, the points are converted to prizes.  

There will be a list of stories sent home during the school year that your child can choose from.  The books may be found at your home, our school library, or the Gladstone or Escanaba Public Libraries.
